Napp Adjustable Bed Reviews – I’ve personally tried a Napp mattress and adjustable bed, and done all the research on what others think of Napp adjustable beds. At this point in your bed hunt, you’re wanting to know if the overwhelmingly positive reviews are true, and if there is any weight to any negative comments.
I’ve been through all the Napp adjustable bed reviews available. I dissect them all for you – good and bad – offering you my opinion as both a bed reviewer and a Napp customer with experience of their beds.
I’ve got all the information you’re looking for:

- My Own Experience And Opinion Napp Beds (+ A Hack For You To Try)
Let’s start out by pointing out that Napp adjustable beds and mattresses are made here in New Zealand, and are extremely well priced for the quality. When you buy an adjustable bed from Napp, Napp mattresses are part of the deal (I slept on a Napp mattress for more than a year, they are nice).
Yes, for those of you wondering, these beds perform just as well as, if not better than the $10K+ adjustable bed packages you’ll find at retailers like Bed Post or Harvey Norman. And: you’ll get free delivery. And if it’s your first Napp purchase, you can enter your email address for a discount code. Such a great deal!
So, **spoiler alert**, I think these are great beds and that you won’t regret buying one. Let’s get into the details.
Napp Adjustable Bed Reviews – Analysis Of What Customers Say
Napp adjustable bed reviews are best found direct on the Napp website. Don’t worry about the fact you can’t find any external reviews, Napp is very transparent with showing all review comments, good and bad.
Napp Refresh Adjustable Bed
- Priced From $2590
- Includes NZ Made Napp Memory Foam Mattress(es) And Delivery
- This Is A "Basic" Model. Inclusions Are: Wireless Remote With 2 Presets, Bluetooth Connectivity, 3 Adjustable Leg Heights
- 10 Year Warranty
- Average User Rating 4.9 Out Of 5 From 111 Customer Reviews
I’m just going to put it out there and say that in my opinion this is the best quality and best priced adjustable bed/mattress package in New Zealand. Here are all the details about the Refresh model:
- It’s the lowest price so it has highest number of reviews of the 4 Napp beds available due to the most accessible price point.
- The Refresh had 108 reviews at time of writing, with an average rating of 4.9 stars out of 5 (an astounding 105 out of 111 reviewers rated this bed 5 stars out of 5).
- There was just one 2 star rating and one 3 star rating.
- Why someone gave this bed a 2 star rating: well, it actually appears to be an error! The reviewer absolutely raves about the bed, calling it “divine”, and “the best purchase they’ve made in years”. So, basically, there are no bad reviews.
- The 3 and 4 star reviews are the most interesting in my opinion, as these tend to be where you find people who are happy with the product, but have some feedback that is often worth paying attention to.
- The one 3 star review: this reviewer is still getting used to their bed 3 months into purchasing it. They are a side and stomach sleeper, and can’t quite find a position that suits them. They report there is nothing “wrong” that they can put their finger on, but that they’re not sure if this is right for them. I tend to agree with this person that it’s probably quite difficult to find a comfortable position other than flat when sleeping on your stomach, because there’s so much weight and pressure on your hips when you sleep on your stomach. I sleep on my side on my own adjustable bed and it’s perfectly comfortable, so if you’re a side/back/combo sleeper, there’s nothing for you to worry about here. Stomach sleepers I believe ARE better on a flat surface though.
- In the four 4 star reviews: people are happy. One person deducted a star because they found the mattress a little firm. Having slept on a Napp mattress for more than a year, I can say it’s definitely a medium feel (which works well for most people), but if you really wanted a soft mattress this comment is valid. A mattress topper will sort this for you, and many people throughout the reviews commented that if they used the Napp mattress topper it solved this issue. One person commented that when they adjusted the bed in any direction, it took a couple of days to get used to the new position. This is also valid, and to be completely expected as with any change to your bed. They also said they found it difficult to get back to a previous setting they may have tried. Keep in mind the Refresh model is the only one in the Napp bed range that does NOT have memory settings in the remote, so you can’t store favourite positions. If this is important for you, I recommend you consider the next model up: the Invigorate, which has 2 memory buttons on the remote.
- Last but not least, let’s summarize the 5 star reviews, which is where you find the reassurance that this is a GREAT bed:
- There are lots of comments on the great customer service. I can personally vouch for this. Napp is a small family business. I’ve personally had good interactions with the Napp team (both in the capacity of working on this website AND as a customer when we bought a mattress), and I’ve had emails from people I’ve recommended Napp to reporting they also got great service.
- The bed is easy to put together. Adjustable beds are SO easy to put together. You pretty much just unfold it, and there it is! No fiddly slats or flat packing to fight with. (They are heavy though, it’s a 2 person job).
- People report the motors are quiet. This is a really important factor for your relaxation in your bed. It’s even more of a thing if you’re sharing a split adjustable bed with a partner, and you’re moving each side of your bed separately from each other during the night
- People with a variety of health concerns (COPD, arthritis, sore backs, snoring) report using the Refresh Adjustable Bed has helped improve their comfort in bed
- Everyone enjoys the adjustable features and reports better sleep. Overwhelmingly people love their bed and are very happy they purchased from Napp.
Napp Invigorate Adjustable Bed
- Priced From $3790
- Includes NZ Made Napp Memory Foam Mattress(es) And Delivery
- Here's What You're Paying More For: More Presets In The Remote, Memory Options, Massage Features (A Biggie That Helps A Lot Of People Drift Off To Sleep), USB Ports, Underbed Lighting
- 10 Year Warranty
- Average User Rating 4.8 Out Of 5 From 85 Customer Reviews
- The Invigorate has more features (and therefore costs more) than the Refresh model above. I think the best extra features you’re paying for are: memory options on your remote (you’ll recall we saw someone wishing for these in our investigation of the Refresh bed reviews), massage settings,USB ports in the base (SUPER handy if you use any device in your bedroom) and underbed lighting.
- Since we’ve already established that Napp beds are great quality and the head/foot articulation works smoothly and quietly, I thought the best way to look at the Invigorate reviews was to try to find reviews that speak specifically to features you get with it.
- At the time of writing, there were 85 reviews, with an an average rating of 4.8 stars out of 5. Again, this shows that an overwhelming majority of customers are absolutely stoked with their Invigorate adjustable bed purchase.
- Here we see our first 1 star review (though there’s just the one) and a 2 star review (again, the one)
- Here’s what the two customers (out of 85) were unhappy with: the 1 star review again appears to be user error, as it’s a positive comment. The 2 star reviewer said they were expecting a greater improvement to their sleep. That’s all they said, I wish we had a bit more context to qualify this comment. Though hopefully you can see that one out of 85 makes it rare.
- Here’s what the 4 star reviewers said that prevented them leaving a 5 star rating. One person found they couldn’t quite get that perfect position, but they said this could be due to the pillows and other accessories they’re using. Someone else said they wish the bed came with linen (Napp actually do sell a special adjustable bed base sheet, which is revolutionary for split model beds, and I’ve not seen anything else like it anywhere else in the world). If you want this kiwi ingenuity linen with your bed, Napp have a great package deal on adjustable beds for couples, which you can read about later in the article. Staying on sheets, someone else found their fitted sheet didn’t fit that well. I can say that I use Groundd bamboo sheets on a very thick mattress (Winkl) on my adjustable base (Peace Lily) with no issue, so if your sheet has pockets deep enough for a standard mattress (a Napp mattress is about 25cm high, a pretty standard height) you’ll be fine. One more person said they didn’t think the massage features were strong enough. I think this is valid because you’ve got to remember there’s a mattress between the vibrating motors and your body. If you’re concerned about this, you might be better off buying the cheaper Refresh model with no massage, and getting yourself a massage chair (or going to get a massage) instead with the extra $.
- The five star reviewers said everything we’d expect: the head and foot articulation is great, Napp is great to deal with , the bed is sturdy. All the good reassuring stuff we read when we went through the Refresh. One persons comment made me chuckle: their cat got a bit freaked out by the massage feature so if pets jumping on your bed is something you want to change, this bed could be a pet deterrent! Others reported the massage features as soothing, and using the wave massage feature to help drift off to sleep.
Napp Enrich Adjustable Bed
- Priced From $4690
- Includes NZ Made Napp Memory Foam Mattress(es) And Delivery
- As Well As The Feature Upgrades We Saw On The Invigorate Model, The Enrich Has Extra Lumbar Support, Which Is A Big Part Of What You're Paying More For. Also Has A Deeper Base And Higher Weight Tolerance.
- Especially Well Suited To People With Back Pain Or Spinal Injuries
- 10 Year Warranty
- Average User Rating 4.9 Out Of 5 From 25 Customer Reviews
- The Enrich adjustable base is a step up again from the Invigorate base. The extras you’re paying for are: a deeper base, an optional safety rail (which could be very important depending on the circumstances leading you to buy an adjustable bed), and a higher weight tolerance on the motors (400kg vs 340kg on the Refresh + Invigorate). The real standout extra feature is the lumbar support. The Enrich is the only Napp base featuring it, and if you require that extra level of support for your back, this is the base for you.
- “Lumbar support” generally refers to extra support for the 5 vertebrae in your lower back, where lots of people experience back pain. I’ve linked here to a comprehensive article on lumbar support and how it works in adjustable beds if you want more info to see if this is a feature you want to upgrade your Napp experience to the Enrich for.
- We’ve only got 25 reviews to sift through here: as expected, as the price increases, the popularity of the bed decreases.
- Of the 25 reviews, there’s not a single negative one. They’re all 4 and 5 stars, with a stellar rating of 4.9 out of 5.
- Both 4 star reviewers said they felt the mattress was a tiny bit firm but that they still liked it. My experience of the Napp mattress is that it’s medium. It’s definitely softer than Ecosa, but firmer than Winkl. In my opinion (I’m not a chiropractor or a doctor) it’s the firmness that most people will find is great on their backs without going too far either way (too soft or too firm).
- Perhaps unsurprisingly, the 5 star reviews were full of comments from happy people who bought the Enrich bed to help with back pain or a spinal injury. Again, the reviews were full of praise for Napp’s customer service and the quality of the bed. The Enrich is also a massage model, and again we have people enjoying the massage mode to soothe them off to sleep.
Napp Uplift Adjustable Bed
- Priced From $5780
- Includes NZ Made Napp Memory Foam Mattress(es) And Delivery
- The Big Upgrade With The Uplift Bed Is The Ability To Move Height Of The Bed Up Or Down, Which Is A Biggie For People With Limited Mobility. Like The Enrich, It Has A Deeper Base And Higher Weight Tolerance.
- 10 Year Warranty
- Average User Rating 5 Out Of 5 From 7 Customer Reviews
- The most expensive of the Napp adjustable bed range. Why: as well as articulating at the head and feet + other features like you’d expect for a premium product, the Uplift has overall height control. If the bed is for someone with limited mobility, this means you can change the height of the bed at the touch of a button to make it easier to get in and out of bed.
- Like the other more expensive model (the Enrich), the Uplift has the capability for a safety rail, a deeper base, and the 400kg weight tolerance.
- At the time of writing, there were 7 reviews to read about the Uplift, and all of them were 5 star. Since there’s such a small number I’m going to take you through them one by one.
- Comfy and easy to use, but this person found set-up a bit challenging. If you’re concerned about this, ask Brendan from Napp about it when you make your purchase, as I’ve read a lot of other comments where people have had help setting up their bed.
- A positive comment from someone who has finally been able to sleep in a bed after having to sleep in a recliner chair for years due to being unable to get in and out of bed. The Uplift changed this for them.
- This person just said this bed is perfect and it’s the best bed in the world!
- This person is full of praise for Napp’s customer support, especially in helping them find the best ways to get the most out of their adjustable bed. I have to say, Napp’s post-purchase customer care really is above and beyond.
- Bought for a family member who is loving their bed.
- This reviewer finds the bed is helping them get comfortable in bed with hip pain.
- This reviewer appreciates the bed’s range of motion due to their lack of mobility.
Napp Adjustable Bed Reviews – My Summary
You’ve just read through a whole bunch of information so I want to summarize it really briefly for you. Here are the 5 main takeaway points from reading through all the Napp adjustable bed reviews available to me at the time of writing this article:
- Napp adjustable beds are good quality with good motors
- Napp customer service is second to none, with the post-purchase customer support being a particular stand up (this is absolutely critical because you’re making a big online purchasing decision here)
- Most people find the Napp mattresses included with the base are incredibly comfortable. Those that don’t find it comfortable tend to say its firm. This problem is easily solved by adding a Napp mattress topper to soften the mattress (yes this is an extra cost, but you’ll still be spending wayyy less than buying an adjustable bed from a shop)
- Those who bought a bed with enhanced features (lumbar support on the Enrich, height adjustments on the Uplift) found the beds very well suited for purpose and worth the money
- People looking for a high quality adjustable bed without extra bells and whistles find the Refresh to be extremely good value for money
My Personal Experiences With Napp Beds
I bought a Napp mattress myself in 2020 and slept on it for a year so I’m well placed to give you an opinion on the mattress. As for the adjustable bed? Here’s my hack that not many people know:
Napp adjustable beds are made by King Koil, and if you want to see the same bases in action, you can actually check them out at Harvey Norman! Prepare to be shocked at the price difference, especially considering when you buy from Napp your new mattress is part of the deal.
I encourage you to go along and look at the models, ask for the remote and put them through their paces! I’ve done this myself, so even though I don’t own any Napp adjustable bases, I have tested them and can vouch for the quality of their construction and the quietness of their motors.
My Napp Mattress Experience
I got my parents to buy one of these and when we unboxed it for them I got so jealous of how comfortable it was, so we bought one too.
Why am I not sleeping on it now? Well, I was gifted a Winkl Lux mattress and when my marriage ended we had to divide up all the lovely beds, so I kept the Winkl! My parents are still happily sleeping on their Napp, as is my kid’s dad. And everyone loves it!
Like I’ve said earlier in this review, the Napp mattress has a medium feel. After sleeping on an Ecosa mattress it felt so plush yet supportive. It’s genuinely a really great mattress that will last the distance: everyone that has a Napp that I know is as good as new (after 3 years).
The cool touch cover is a really special feature that I don’t think is talked up enough. It’s something I’ve only really seen on Tempur, which will set you back thousands more.
I DO find my Winkl Lux mattress is a touch softer than the Napp, but as someone who prefers a softer mattress I was perfectly happy on a Napp mattress. To me, it gets that medium “just right for most people” feel. When you read reviews, you’ll see some finding it too soft, some finding it too firm.
This is natural, as we are not all the same. Luckily, the mattress has a 100 night sleep trial so if you don’t like it, Brendan and the Napp team will arrange for it to be picked up and you’ll get a refund. Easy. Please note though, Napp adjustable bases don’t have a sleep trial as the cost of freight is just too high to offer this. You won’t find anyone in NZ offering a sleep trial on an adjustable base, that’s just the way it is.
Napp Adjustable Bed Reviews – People Also Ask:
What Is The Life Expectancy Of An Adjustable Bed?
You can expect about 10 years from an adjustable bed base as long as you look after it properly. Check the warranty provided by your manufacturer for specific details.
Do Doctors Recommend Adjustable Beds?
I’m not a doctor, but I have certainly heard of doctors advising people to try them out as a lifestyle option to help combat issues such as snoring, reflux, and back pain. Many people report their health issues improve after using an adjustable bed. Please discuss with your own doctor to see if an adjustable bed is right for YOU.
Is It Worth It To Get An Adjustable Bed?
From a lifestyle perspective, my answer is 100% YES. I have one myself and I would not go back. I love the gentle massage features for going to sleep, the ability to sit up in bed and read, and it’s a lifesaver to sleep with a raised head if I’ve got a cold.
What Are The Disadvantages Of An Adjustable Bed?
There aren’t really any! If you get a split model for a couple, it can be a challenge keeping the bases together. They’re quite heavy to set up and move around. They’re more expensive than a standard bed base.
