Zinus is the most popular budget mattress brand in America. They make a range of mattresses, many of which are top sellers on Amazon, which means they are shifting thousands of units a month. Huge numbers. That’s a lot of people out there sleeping on Zinus! So what’s the best Zinus mattress? I’ll reveal my recommendation and the most popular model as we go through the article.
Zinus Overview
Zinus is an online furniture retailer, best known for their mattresses. They launched in 2004, many years before other well known mattress in a box companies. With the benefit of time, they’ve been able to develop a truly innovative range of mattresses for budget price points. It’s no wonder they’re so popular.
Zinus mattresses tend to fall into three types:
- Memory Foam
- Gel Memory Foam
- Coil Based
Which One Is Most Popular With Real Customers?
Hands down, the Zinus Green Tea memory foam mattress is the most popular with buyers. On Amazon, it has the highest star rating of all the range and also sells the most.
It’s the only mattress I’m aware of with a green tea infusion which is there to keep your mattress fresh.

Best Zinus Mattress: Editor’s Choice
My favorite is also the Zinus Green Tea. What makes it stand out above the others for me are these factors:
- Your choice of heights to suit your needs. The thinner ones are great for trundle or bunk beds, while the thicker ones are better for comfort.
- Generous amounts of comfort foams in the 10 and 12 inch styles. In the 12 inch Green Tea mattress you get 5 inches of comfort foams. That’s really good value for money as other brands (which cost more) may only offer 3 inches.
- The infusions in the foam are innovative and functional. The green tea infusion is unique to Zinus. You won’t find many other brands offering features like this at such budget price points. The green tea infusion is there to keep your mattress smelling fresh, while the charcoal is both antimicrobial and temperature regulating.
- The air pockets for air flow are a great feature for an all foam mattress, as they allow air to flow out of the mattress (taking heat with it).
So, I agree with customers: the Zinus Green Tea Mattress is the best Zinus Mattress.
What Are Their Other Mattresses Like?
Of course, Green Tea isn’t the only mattress Zinus makes.
Here’s an overview of some of their other mattresses so you can compare them.
Zinus Ultima:
This is another all foam model that at first glance looks very similar to the Green Tea. It also features an all foam construction, with three foam layers. It’s another best selling mattress, but doesn’t sell anywhere near as well as the Green Tea despite being a similar price.
There are two key differences that make Green Tea better: the Ultima is described as temperature neutral, while the Green Tea is cool. This is important, as memory foam has a reputation for trapping heat so you want to get any cooling you can from your foam.
The other difference is there is a variation in how the foam layers are constructed. In the Ultima, you get thicker layers of comfort foam, but less support foam. For example, the support foam in the Ultima 12 inch model is only 6 inches, whereas it’s 7 inches in the Green Tea.

Zinus Gel Memory Foam Pocket Spring Hybrid Mattress:
This is Zinus’ best selling model that is a hybrid instead of all foam. It’s available in 10, 12, or a luxurious 14 inch height.
The foams in the comfort layer of this mattress are a mixture of Zinus’ infused foams and viscolatex foams. The viscolatex foams are designed to be springy and responsive while still giving pressure relief: they act like a latex foam.
No matter which mattress depth you buy, each has a 7.5 inch deep pocket coil support unit in the core. The big advantage the luxury 14 inch model has over the 10 and 12 inch is that the pocket coils are encased in a high density foam around the edges, giving the mattress better edge support. In fact, this will give it the best edge support of all the Zinus mattresses.
You’re getting a lot of mattress for your money when you purchase this one, and prices do start a little higher (from around $300 for the 10 inch).
While I think this is a good mattress for the price, the Green Tea edges it out as my favorite Zinus mattress because it packs a better combination of value for money and features.
