Sealy is the most recognisable mattress brand in the world. Did you know they sell a mattress, somewhere, every 3 seconds?! That’s a lot. If you’re looking for a new mattress, Sealy is probably what has popped into your mind first. You’re looking to buy a Sealy Mattress in the UK, which is also made in the UK (Cumbria, to be precise). In these uncertain times it’s not as easy to pop down to the local mattress store and lie on all the beds. You are considering buying a mattress online. What are your Sealy Mattress UK options? Sealy Overview

Sealy is the biggest mattress brand in the world and has been in business more than 100 years. In 2013, the US branch merged with Tempur, another highly recognisable brand, extending their reach even further. The British arm of Sealy is part of the Silentnight group (yes, the people who make the popular Silentnight mattresses). Sealy UK make 3500 mattresses per week from their base in Cumbria.

As you are probably aware, Sealy makes a range of different mattresses for different needs. They have soft ones, firm ones, and everything in between. They have memory foam, coils, and gel foams. They have orthopaedic mattresses and “lifestyle” mattresses. You can buy mattresses direct from Sealy, including online, however I could not find any mattress on their website that was available for delivery at the moment.

Where You’ll Find Sealy Mattresses Online In The UK

Sealy stocks their mattresses at more than 30 UK retailers that have websites. That’s a lot of online options for a lot of mattresses! When you’re faced with not only the decision of trying to narrow down which mattress best suits you but also where is best to buy it, you could feel like you’ve got a huge mountain to climb and feel a bit overwhelmed.

I’ve taken the hard work away for you: I’m here to tell you about two great places to buy Sealy online in the UK and I’ll share some mattress recommendations for you. I’ll also tell you how you can choose the Sealy mattress best suited to you in less than 2 minutes! You’ll have your new Sealy mattress on your bed in no time.

My Two Online Store Picks

The two online shops I have picked to purchase a Sealy mattress from are: MattressOnline.co.uk and Amazon.co.uk.

Why? There are a number of reasons:

• Both are well established companies with good customer service track records
• Both run regular specials and sales
• Both ensure you get the Sealy 5 year guarantee on your mattress purchase
• Both can offer you next day delivery (to most postcodes)
• Both will allow you to return the mattress for a refund within 28-30 days (but it must be unused and unopened)

Out of the two, my favourite is MattressOnline. As a specialist mattress store, it has a few more options for you than Amazon does, and better search function on its website. While you can’t order the latest bestseller and some new slippers at the same time like you could with Amazon, here’s the other good stuff about buying from MattressOnline:

• They have over 12,000 mattresses in stock, ready to go. This includes more than 40 options for Sealy mattresses and beds.They can recycle your old mattress for you for £25 (this is probably a lot cheaper and more convenient than you could do it yourself)
• They offer free delivery on all mattresses (Amazon does on most, but I did note a fee on some Sealy models available at the time of writing of £23.)
• They are the National Bed Federation online retailer of the year for 2019
• They have a range of mattresses that you can try at home, risk free, for up to 60 Nights. There are no Sealy models in this range unfortunately, but there are some Silentnight ones, which I will review in another article.

So which Sealy mattress is the right choice for you, and what you need? After all, MattressOnline have 40 Sealy products priced from £209 for a basic Sealy  memory foam mattress right through to the glorious Sealy Nostromo Posturepedic Divan Bed, priced from £1014.

Luckily, MattressOnline have a great search tool that make the process really simple. It’s super easy to filter your results by

For example, if I decided I want a Sealy Mattress that has a soft feel, has foam and coils, and costs over £500, the results are quickly narrowed down to two options, where I can easily compare them at a glance. Here’s a snapshot.

But what if you’re not sure what to search for, and just want to go with a bed that seems pretty good and most people are happy with? That’s fine too! I’ve done some thinking for you and have three great Sealy Mattress options that could work really well for you. These are mattresses that are well loved by current users.

1. Activsleep Memory Pocket 1800 Mattress

Priced from £348, this is a reasonably priced mattress for what I think is one that is well constructed and comfortable. It has a soft to medium feel and a rating from verified customers of 9.3 out of 10.

I really like the construction of this mattress for two reasons.

1. It has a double coil support system. That means it has  up to 1000 pocket coils as the main support, and then above it are  up to 800 micro coils. These are little pocket coils that act as a comfort AND support layer. My favourite mattress I have ever owned had a similar construction and it was the most comfortable thing I ever slept on. It cost a lot more than this Sealy model did too!
2. It has a 2cm layer of specially made, responsive memory foam to keep you comfortable.

2. Sealy PosturePedic Pearl Ortho Mattress

This is one of Sealy’s best sellers, with hundreds more reviews for this mattress than most others from Sealy. It has a high score of 9.1 out of 10 and is priced from £468.00.

This mattress has a firm feel and a standard spring construction. The familiar construction from the springs and the quality that comes with the Sealy brand are what I believe make this a popular seller. As it is an orthopaedic mattress, it’s designed to give strong support, and this is why it has a firmer feel.

3. Sealy Hybrid Ultima Geltex 2800 Pocket Mattress

My third Sealy mattress pick from MattressOnline is another hybrid made of foam and coils. The foam inside this mattress is not standard memory foam, it is a trademarked foam called Geltex , which is an innovative combination of an extremely elastic gel and air-permeable foam. This means it has a soft feel and does a great job of regulating your body temperature.

This mattress is a bit more of a luxury option, as it has more coils and a deeper foam layer. In fact, you’re getting a whopping 8cm of Geltex foam inside this mattress. Again, here’s a short video from Sealy explaining about this foam:

Options From Amazon UK

So you love to buy stuff on Amazon? Let’s take a look at the Sealy options you have here.

Due to COVID-19, only a few of the usual 18 options are currently available from Sealy’s Amazon store.

My pick of the Amazon Sealy options its the Geltex foam mattress. This contains the same cooling foam as the MattressOnline option above, but is a more budget priced option without the coils. It has a medium firm feel and a depth of 20 cm. This means it’s slightly thinner than your options above, but it is a cheaper mattress, priced from around £300.

The high density support foam has zoning in it to target specific body weight zones as you sleep, which is a feature I was surprised to find at this price point.

You’ll see that this mattress is grouped together in the Amazon listing with two other Sealy Mattresses: the Posturepedic Ortho and Posturepedic Zoned mattress. It looks like all three models have a similar zoned support core, the difference comes down to how deep the mattress is and the firmness of it. The Ortho is 2cm deeper and has a softer feel than the Zoned.

But I Want A Mattress I Can Try Out Properly!

With the return policies for the Sealy stockists, you’re out of luck if the mattress doesn’t suit, because as soon as you’ve used it you can’t return it. This is fine if the mattress works well for you, but it’s not so fine if you feel like the mattress is not right.

To be honest with you, this can also happen even if you’ve tried a mattress in store. After all, how well can awkwardly lying on a mattress in a shop for 5 minutes really simulate how comfortably you’ll sleep on a mattress? It can’t!

What’s the solution then? If you feel frustrated at this conundrum, you’ll want to look at a mattress that offers you at least 30 nights to sleep on at home, and can be returned if you don’t like it AFTER sleeping on it. It takes about 30 nights for your body to adjust to a new mattress, so I think you need this long before you’re made to commit to one.

Luckily you have a few options if this sounds like you.
