Olee Sleep Mattress Features

Olee Sleep make two mattresses: an memory foam mattress and a hybrid mattress (foam and coils). Both come with a 10 year manufacturers’ warranty and are subject to Amazon’s 30 day return policy.

Let’s take a look at each.

All Foam: “Olee Sleep 10 Inch Gel Infused Layer Top Memory Foam Mattress”

Olee Mattress Reviews Image 1
  • 10 Inch height (a standard height for a mattress in a box)
  • Breathable cover: this will be a soft polyester knit. It has a pretty floral design on the white top, and has blue sides
  • Comfort layer of gel infused memory foam. This layer is designed to be cooling (gel draws heat away from your body), conforming, and supportive
  • Base layer of high density polyfoam (this is a standard base layer for all foam mattresses across many brands)

Olee Sleep is quite light on the details of their memory foam mattress, for example there are no images showing you a cross section of the foams, nor could I find any information about the depth of each foam layer. It’s great that the memory foam in the top has the gel infusion to help keep it cool, but it would be good to know how deep it is. .

I think this is a nice looking mattress that seems to be of reasonable quality for the price. It’s a little unusual to see just two foam layers instead of three, but this is one of the cheapest foam mattresses you can buy with a 10 inch height and gel infused memory foam. I’ve seen other mattresses with similar specs for a lot more $$.

Hybrid (Foam and Coils): “Olee Sleep 13 Inch Galaxy Hybrid Gel Infused Memory Foam And Pocket Spring Mattress”

Olee Sleep Hybrid Mattress

This hybrid mattress is the most popular of the two Olee Sleep mattresses, and at 13 inches high it’s 3 inches more mattress for your money.

  • 13 Inch height (taller than standard, bordering on luxury height)
  • Breathable cover: this will be a soft polyester like on the all foam model but has a different pattern. Note the edging feature on the hybrid
  • Comfort layer of gel infused memory foam
  • Layers of high density transition foam
  • Pocket coil support core (these are individually wrapped coils that are more quiet and better at isolating motion than traditional coil units)

At around $300 for a king size, i think this one is the better value for money of the two Olee Sleep mattresses in this review: it’s a generous amount of mattress for your money and I can see why it’s so popular.

What Does An Olee Sleep Mattress Mattress Feel Like To Lie On?

Memory Foam:

The memory foam mattress has a “plush” feel. I interpret this as being a touch softer than medium, without being too soft. From reading through and analyzing comments from a range of users, I rate this foam mattress at around a 5.5 out of 10 on the mattress firmness scale (a medium would be 6 – 6.5).

Thanks to the breathable cover and gel infusion in the memory foam, this mattress should do a reasonable job of keeping you cool through the night.

Hybrid:

The hybrid mattress has a “medium” feel. This means it’s a touch firmer than the memory foam Olee Sleep mattress, and from what I can see it looks like the foams are very responsive so they should give good pressure relief without you sinking into the mattress.

As this mattress has a coil support core, it will feel more bouncy than the all foam model, but the fact that the coils are individually wrapped and work in isolation from each other means motion isolation should not be an issue.

This mattress also has a breathable cover and gel infused memory foam; it will be even more powerful at keeping your temperature neutral through the night as air can also circulate better through the coils than it could through an all foam base.

Is An Olee Sleep Mattress The Right Mattress For You?

10 Inch Memory Foam Mattress:

This is a very cheap all foam mattress, with a slightly softer than medium feel. This means it’s going to work really well in some scenarios, but might not be so great for others.

Buy it for:

  • A child’s room
  • A guest room
  • Every day adult use if you’re looking for a slightly soft mattress with a life of around 2-3 years
  • A light adult who likes to sleep on their side (this should give good pressure relief through your shoulder

If you want other options at a similar price, Revel is a made in the USA brand with three foam layers. Zinus is another option with deeper comfort layers.

13 Inch Hybrid Mattress:

I think this mattress is sturdier than the 10 Inch foam mattress model above. In addition to being a good choice for kids or guests like the 10 inch model above, you can extend its suitability to:

  • Better for everyday adult use
  • Better for back or stomach sleepers as it has a firmer feel

If you’re interested in other hybrid mattress options at a budget price point, read this.

Are There Any Problems With Olee Sleep Mattresses?

I can’t see anything in the mattress construction or negative comments from real customers that indicate any problems that are specific to Olee Sleep mattresses.

What I DO see are complaints from people who have owned the mattress for a period of time: some find the mattress started sagging, or lost support. This is universal to all foam mattresses at this price point. Cheap foams = less durability. If you purchase Olee Sleep mattresses for occasional use in a guest room, or for a child, this will not be an issue for you. At this price, I’d expect you’d get 2-3 years of regular use from the mattress.

More people are happy with the Olee Sleep hybrid than the all foam model, which is not surprising given it has a sturdier construction and I’d therefore expect it to perform better. If you’re on the market for an adult’s every day mattress, I think you’ll have a better time with the hybrid than the all foam model. There are reports from people who have owned it for 3+ years who are still enjoying it, so make sure you’ve got a sturdy platform for your mattress as poor support can cause sagging also.

Another thing to expect from any mattress in a box that contains foam is some off-gassing as the foam expands. This happens at all price points, and is just a fact of life when buying a mattress in a box. There’s no need for concern though, Olee Sleep products are CertiPUR-US certified so there are no toxic chemicals here. Open the mattress in a ventilated space if you’re sensitive to smells (I did this with my own memory foam mattress and it helped immensely – the smell was gone within 24-48 hours).

Olee Sleep Mattress Reviews: Final Opinion

These are two very cheap and very popular mattresses. As long as you’re aware that buying mattresses at this price point means they don’t come with the big sleep trials other brands can offer and that they may not last as long, you won’t have any problems with Olee Sleep and you’ll get a good deal.

My pick of the two Olee Sleep mattresses is the hybrid as I believe you’re getting a lot more mattress for your money. It’s also the more popular of the pair and has a higher rating, so real customers agree with me here.

I think the all foam mattress could be a good option for kids or guest rooms, but if you’re looking to buy an Olee Sleep mattress for yourself I think the hybrid is going to be more durable and sturdy.
