The specific mattress I will review is the Gel Memory Foam 10 Inch Mattress.
A. Pricing and Value Proposition
The 10-inch mattress retails from $289 on the Novilla website, while the 12-inch retails from $343. I won’t list Amazon prices here because they fluctuate regularly: what I highly recommend you do is to check prices both on the Novilla website and on the Amazon website to see where you can get the best deal. I have an exclusive 12% discount for my readers if you buy direct from Novilla, but still check both!
B. Delivery Process and Packaging
The Novilla mattress arrives in a box, folded, and vacuum sealed. It is easy to carry the box to the desired room, where you can easily unbox it. The total weight for a 10-inch queen size mattress is 51.1 pounds while the same size in 12-inches weighs slightly more at 67.9 pounds.
C. The Generous Sleep Trial and Warranty Offerings
This is where I think Novilla may have got something wrong. On their website, it says their mattress has a 30 day sleep trial. And to be honest, that is what I’d expect at this price point.
On their Amazon listing however, readers are offered a 100 night sleep trial. I’ve actually talked to Novilla about this, and they confirmed there is a mistake on the listing and it should indeed be a 30 day trial, NOT 100 days. So you get a 30 day trial no matter whether you buy from Amazon or direct from Novilla. Novilla told me they’re updating their Amazon listing, but it still mistakenly shows 100 days so I need to mention it for you here.
D. The External Aesthetics: Unpacking the Mattress Cover
The mattress cover is made from bamboo, meaning good breathability and softness. I’m pleasantly surprised to see bamboo being used here, it’s one of my preferred cover materials.
Inside Novilla Gel Memory Foam Mattress: Decoding the Layers
Let’s take a deeper look into the layers of the mattress. There are three layers to the Gel Memory Foam Mattress, being the high density base layer, a center that supports air flow and circulation, as well as a cooling gel, and the protective cover made from bamboo and rayon. Read on to get further information and specificities about each layer that comprises the mattress.
A. The Protective and Breathable Cover
The cover is made from a bamboo rayon blended fabric, which is breathable and also really soft. While bamboo is naturally antimicrobial and odor free, I would still opt for a mattress protector to keep the cover in pristine condition.
With a high-quality zipper that features in the middle of the mattress edge, it is easy to take off the mattress cover and wash it if you choose.
B. Sinking into the Comfort Layers
The Novilla mattress is made up of four layers that each offer unique benefits and contribute to a good night’s sleep. The layers are as follow:
- Cooling, gel-infused memory foam layer
- Airflow comfort foam layer
- Air-circulation foam layer
- Supportive high-density base foam
With the 10-inch mattress, the cooling gel and airflow layers are each two inches thick, with the air-circulation foam and the base layer both being three inches thick.
The 12-inch mattress has a three-inch cooling gel layer, a two-inch air-flow comfort layer, a three and a half inch air-circulation layer, and a three and a half high density foam base. This means the 12-inch mattress is indeed thicker, but the thickness is not evenly increased as the air-flow layer is still only two inches thick.
C. Understanding the Base Layer
The high-density base layer is three inches wide in the 10-inch mattress and three and a half inches for the 12-inch mattress. In my opinion this is the only layer of the mattress that makes me feel unsure about recommending it to an adult because it’s quite thin. I usually like to see base layers that are 6 – 7 inches thick so Novilla have gone for a totally different feel here with loads of comfort layers and a thinner base. I think this might make the mattress better for either a childs room or maybe a guest room, it’s a bit of a red flag for every day adult use to be honest!

While I can tell you all about the science behind the Novilla gel memory foam mattress and share my own opinions about this mattress, it is still really important to hear what thousands of other users have to say about this mattress. The cumulative customer reviews on Amazon have rated the Novilla a solid 4.5/5 in at the time of writing, from more than 12000 reviews
Three quarters of those reviewers rated Novilla at five stars, which is a really promising percentage. However, 12% of online reviews rated this product under four stars.
The reviews of four or five stars said that the Novilla mattress has a good level of firmness and support, with the same level of softness a year later.
